Privacy Policy
EFFECTIVE DATE: 1 NOVEMBER 2026
In brief. The Site has no accounts, no advertising and no analytics, and it sets no cookies of its own. The legal tools run in your browser and nothing you paste into them reaches us. We receive personal information only when you write to us, plus the standard technical logs our host keeps. Two third parties can receive technical data when you browse: YouTube, for the video clip, and Amazon, which serves the book cover images.
1. Introduction
1.1 Purpose. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information the website at https://www.adam-jabbar.com (the "Site") collects, how it is used and shared, how long it is kept and the choices and rights you have. It should be read with the Terms of Use.
1.2 Plain description. We have written this policy to describe what the Site actually does. If a feature changes in a way that affects your information, we will update this policy before or when the change takes effect.
2. Who is responsible for your information
2.1 Controller. The Site is operated by Adam Jabbar, Advocate of the High Courts, of Islamabad, Pakistan ("we", "us" or "our"). For the purposes of data protection laws that use the concept, we are the controller of personal information processed through the Site.
2.2 Contact. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to contact@adam-jabbar.com.
3. Scope
3.1 What this policy covers. This policy covers personal information processed through the Site and through correspondence that starts on the Site.
3.2 What it does not cover. It does not cover Amazon, Audible, YouTube, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Fiverr or other services you reach from the Site, which have their own privacy policies. It also does not cover information processed under an engagement, which is governed by the engagement terms and the professional duties described in section 15.
4. How the Site is built
4.1 A static site. The Site is a set of pre-built pages served by our hosting provider. It has no user accounts, no logins, no comment system, no newsletter and no payment pages.
4.2 No tracking. The Site does not use analytics, advertising pixels, session recording or fingerprinting, and it does not build profiles of visitors. Fonts are served from our own host rather than a third-party font service.
5. Information you give us
5.1 Enquiries. When you contact us through the contact form, by email or by WhatsApp, we receive the information you choose to send: typically your name, email address, organisation, the topic of your enquiry and your message, and for WhatsApp your phone number and profile name.
5.2 How the contact form works. At present the contact form does not send anything to a server. When you press send, it opens your own email application with a pre-filled message, and nothing is transmitted until you send that email yourself. If we later connect the form to a form-handling service, the information you enter will be transmitted through that service and this policy will name it.
5.3 Events and media. If you invite Adam to speak or request an interview, we may also receive event details and the names and contact details of colleagues you copy in.
6. Information collected automatically
6.1 Server logs. Like any web server, our hosting provider automatically records technical information each time a page or file is requested: IP address, date and time, the page or file requested, the referring page, browser type and operating system, and the response status.
6.2 Use of logs. Logs are used to deliver the Site, diagnose faults and protect the Site against abuse and attack. We do not use them to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine them with other information for marketing.
7. Information we ask you not to send
7.1 Confidential matters. Please do not send details of a legal dispute, confidential commercial information or documents through the Site before an engagement is confirmed. See clause 5.3 of the Terms of Use.
7.2 Sensitive information. We do not ask for, and ask you not to send, information about health, religious belief, ethnicity, political opinions, criminal records, biometrics or other special categories of information unless it is strictly necessary and we have asked for it in the course of an engagement.
8. The free legal tools
8.1 Processed on your device. The tools under /tools/ run entirely in your browser using code delivered with the page. Text you paste and answers you select are processed on your own device. They are not sent to us, not sent to any artificial intelligence service, and not stored by the Site.
8.2 When you leave. When you close or reload a tool page, the text is cleared. If you copy a result, it is held by your device's clipboard, not by us.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
9.1 Our cookies. The Site does not set any cookies of its own and does not use browser storage to track you.
9.2 Third-party technologies. The embedded YouTube content described in section 10 may use browser storage on your device under YouTube's own policies. You can block or clear third-party storage in your browser settings; the rest of the Site will continue to work.
9.3 Future changes. If we introduce analytics or any non-essential cookie, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before it is set.
10. Embedded video: YouTube
10.1 Privacy-enhanced mode. Video on the Site is embedded through YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain, youtube-nocookie.com.
10.2 The home page clip. On the home page, a short muted clip from a podcast episode loads automatically when that section scrolls into view, unless your device is set to reduce motion. When it loads, your browser connects to YouTube, which receives your IP address and browser information.
10.3 Other videos. On other pages, video loads only after you press play. If you choose to play a full episode, YouTube's privacy policy applies to that viewing.
11. Book cover images: Amazon
11.1 Image requests. Book cover images are served from Amazon's image servers so that they match the retail listings. When a page with a cover loads, your browser requests the image from Amazon, which receives your IP address and browser information as part of that request.
11.2 Purchases. If you follow a link and buy a book, Amazon or Audible processes your information as the seller under its own privacy notice. We receive no information about you or your purchase.
12. External platforms
12.1 Links out. Links to WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Fiverr, Goodreads and publications take you to services we do not control. Those services may collect information about you under their own policies once you arrive.
12.2 WhatsApp. If you message us on WhatsApp, the conversation is carried by WhatsApp under its terms and privacy policy, and we receive the messages and details described in clause 5.1.
13. How we use personal information
13.1 Purposes. We use personal information only to: (a) read and reply to your enquiry; (b) arrange a speaking engagement, interview, bulk book order or advisory discussion you have asked about; (c) keep a record of our correspondence; (d) operate, secure and fix the Site; and (e) comply with legal and professional obligations and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
13.2 No other use. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, automated decision-making or training artificial intelligence models, and we do not add you to a mailing list.
14. Legal bases
14.1 Where they apply. Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation or the UK GDPR applies to our processing, we rely on the following legal bases.
- Steps before a contract. Processing an enquiry about an engagement you are considering, under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
- Legitimate interests. Replying to general enquiries, keeping correspondence records, and securing the Site through server logs, under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We have balanced these interests against your rights and consider the processing limited and expected.
- Legal obligation. Retaining records where the law requires it, under Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR.
14.2 Other laws. Where other data protection laws apply, we process personal information on the equivalent grounds those laws provide.
15. Confidentiality and professional obligations
15.1 Enquiries. We treat enquiries discreetly and do not share them outside the people needed to respond, as described in section 16.
15.2 Engagements. If an enquiry leads to an engagement, information you provide is then also protected by the duties of confidentiality that bind advocates and by the terms of that engagement, which may require us to keep records for longer than this policy states.
16. Who we share information with
16.1 Service providers. We share personal information only with providers that help us run the Site and our correspondence: our hosting provider, Hostinger, which serves the Site and keeps the server logs; our email service provider; and, if one is connected in future, a form-handling provider. They act on our instructions or under their own terms as independent providers of their services.
16.2 Associated organisations. If you ask about advisory, training or legal work, we may pass your enquiry, with your agreement, to the associated organisation best placed to handle it, such as TECHLAWG or AI for Lawyers Academy.
16.3 Legal requirements. We may disclose information where required by law, court order or a competent authority, or where necessary to protect our rights, the Site or other people.
17. No sale and no advertising
17.1 No sale. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
18. International transfers
18.1 Where information is processed. We are based in Pakistan, and our hosting, email and platform providers may process information in other countries.
18.2 Safeguards. Where you are in a country whose law restricts transfers of personal information abroad, transfers rely on the safeguards available under that law, such as the standard contractual clauses our providers offer where they apply, or on the transfer being necessary to respond to a request you have made.
19. How long we keep information
19.1 Enquiries. Correspondence that does not lead to an engagement is kept for up to twenty-four (24) months after our last exchange, so that we can follow up and keep a record of what was agreed, and is then deleted.
19.2 Engagements. Where an enquiry leads to an engagement, records are kept for as long as the engagement terms, professional obligations and limitation periods require.
19.3 Logs. Server logs are kept for the period set by our hosting provider's standard retention and are then overwritten.
20. Security
20.1 Measures. The Site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections. Because it is static, has no database and no logins, it holds no visitor records that could be extracted from it. Correspondence is kept in access-controlled accounts.
20.2 Limits. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will act promptly and notify you and any authority where the law requires it.
21. Your rights
21.1 Rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: be told how your information is used; access a copy of it; have it corrected or completed; have it deleted; restrict or object to its use, including use based on legitimate interests; receive it in a portable format; and withdraw consent where we rely on consent.
21.2 Free of charge. Exercising these rights is free, except where the law allows a reasonable fee for requests that are manifestly unfounded or excessive.
22. Exercising your rights and complaints
22.1 How to ask. Email contact@adam-jabbar.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We may ask for information to confirm your identity. We will respond within one month, or within any shorter period the law that applies to you requires.
22.2 Complaints. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work, or where you believe an infringement occurred. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
23. Children
23.1 Not directed at children. The Site is written for professionals and students of law and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
24. Pakistan and other jurisdictions
24.1 Pakistan. We handle personal information in line with the laws of Pakistan that apply to it, including the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016. If a general data protection statute comes into force in Pakistan, we will apply it and update this policy.
24.2 Elsewhere. Visitors come from many countries. Where a local law gives you greater protection than this policy describes, we will honour that law to the extent it applies to us.
25. Changes and contact
25.1 Changes. We may update this policy to reflect changes to the Site or the law. The Effective Date above shows when it last changed. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
25.2 Contact. Adam Jabbar, Islamabad, Pakistan. Email: contact@adam-jabbar.com.
